Rajabhau Gandhi

Pune, India

Dr. Rajkumar Gulabchand alias Rajabhau Gandhi, a prominent ISBTI member from Pune, Maharashatra died in a road accident on May 11, 2007.

May his soul rest in peace!

Dr. Gandhi was born on May 10, 1947 and devoted his entire life selflessly to the betterment of blood transfusion services. After his schooling he did his diploma in pathology and joined the Sassoon General Hospitals, Pune as a blood bank technician. While serving the blood bank, he completed his graduation in Ayurveda and later served various blood banks in Pune like Sassoon, Janakalyan, Red Cross, Lokmanya and Acharya Anand Rishiji blood bank as a Medical Officer. He guided various blood banks like Shree Navjeevan (Dhulia), Pune Serological Institute (Pune), Dr. C. T. Shah blood bank (Daund), Shri N. R. Shah blood bank (Indapur), Lions Club of Shivneri blood bank (Narayangaon) in the capacity of Vice-Chairman and Advisor. He was instrumental in organizing the blood banks in Maharashatra under the umbrella of the Maharashatra Blood Bank Association. He led this organization as a President till his last breath. He was actively involved in the ISBTI, Pune Chapter in the capacity of Secretary. His services to blood banking were recognized by many organizations like the Pimpri-Chinchawad Municipal Corporation and IRCS, Baramati. His study visits to blood banks in the UK and USA gave him a broader vision to enhance the blood transfusion services of Maharashtra State.

He is survived by his wife, son and daughter. The ISBTI, Pune Chapter prays to the almighty God for his peace in the heavenly abode.
